5* Book Review of Real by Katy Evans

Summary: A fallen boxer.
A woman with a broken dream.
A competition…

He even makes me forget my name. One night was all it took, and I forgot everything and anything except the sexy fighter in the ring who sets my mind ablaze and my body on fire with wanting…

Remington Tate is the strongest, most confusing man I’ve ever met in my life.

He’s the star of the dangerous underground fighting circuit, and I’m drawn to him as I’ve never been drawn to anything in my life. I forget who I am, what I want, with just one look from him. When he’s near, I need to remind myself that I am strong–but he is stronger. And now it’s my job to keep his body working like a perfect machine, his taut muscles primed and ready to break the bones of his next opponents . . .

But the one he’s most threatening to, now, is me.

I want him. I want him without fear. Without reservations.

If only I knew for sure what it is that he wants from me?

I really love the covers from this series and that is what drew me in to start with followed by all of the great reviews. So obviously this is my first Katy Evans read and most certainly not the last. Real was an emotional rollercoaster and it sent my heart into palpitations for Remy. The writing style of Ms Evans was amazing, with easy flow and addictive characters. I was squirming at the tummy tingling intimate scenes and my heart aching along with Remy and Brooke.

Brooke Dumas is a 24 year old broken athlete that had her dreams smashed to smithereens. Brooke would have been a champion in track until she tore her ACL. Still wanting to be in the athletic world, Brooke is studying to become a sports rehabilitation specialist and has just finished her internship. To celebrate, Melanie, Brooke’s BFF is taking her to something exhilarating and where she can see a lot of muscled men.

Remington ‘Riptide’ Tate disqualified from fighting in the boxing world, but is going to be the champion of the Underground League if he has anything to say about it. He is the hottest of hot and has every single female in the arena drooling over him. But Remy has a massive secret…….

Melanie is a fan of Remy’s and is excited to show Brooke her first fight. Brooke cannot deny that Remy is desirable, but isn’t going to go out of her way to meet him. Remy spot’s Brooke in the audience and is immediately taken with her. As the girls turn to leave there seems to be a scuffle, suddenly a strong hand is on Brooke’s shoulder; she turns to find the hot fighter behind her asking for her name. Brooke is lost for words, but Melanie is excited and fills in the blanks. Remy can’t help himself and has to kiss her right in the middle of the hallway.

The next morning Brooke is greeted with a request to meet with Remy. Brooke is surprised that Remy is offering her a business proposition instead of an intimate one, but nevertheless the opportunity cannot be turned down. The offer is to travel with Remy for the remaining of the season as his personal rehabilitation specialist or physio. This could make or break her career and is something that she has dreamed of since her accident.

Following this moody and troubled fighter around the country isn’t as easy as she thought. Remy and his team have a secret and are not willing to share. Brooke has trouble concentrating on her job when this walking ‘sex god’ is around. She has to put her hands on him as part of her job, but she wishes she could use them for more.

Brooke spots her sister at a fight with Remy’s arch enemy, Scorpion. Nora is meant to be over in Australia, so why is she here and no less with him?

Can Brooke determine why Nora is in the fighting world? Can Remy and Brooke put aside their attraction in order to remain professional? What is the big bad secret of Remy’s? Will he win the Underground championship?

I loved Remy (and Brooke too I suppose), he was the bad boy with a soft side even though his back story is as tough as his muscles are strong. This story has a different edge to the other fighting books I've read and I am excited to start the next book, Mine. Real is a story about the strength of love and trust and with the ability to show that any difficulty can be overcome with those two things. I highly recommend this fantastic book to all new adult romance readers.
