5* Book Review of Bound by Lies by Hanna Peach

Summary: Our love is on his terms. He contacts me only through notes − unpredictable and untraceable. When we meet, he can touch me, but I’m not allowed to touch him. When we make love, it’s only after I have been bound and blindfolded. It’s the only time I truly feel alive. Which is why I play along with it. For now.

Caden Thaine is the most sinfully beautiful man I have ever seen. But more than that, his touch sets me on fire. And dear God, do I ache for him. I don’t know where he lives or even what he does. But this doesn’t scare me. My only fear is that one day his messages will stop.

I know he’s hiding something. But that’s okay. I am hiding things too. Like my real name and... who I really am. But the deeper I fall for him, the stronger my curiosity becomes.

I could never have imagined just how much our lives are bound. And that pulling at his tangled web of secrets would cause my own dark past to come back to try and reclaim me. Will we survive? Will our love?

Well, what a book. Amazingly different and intriguing and hot. Hanna Peach is one fantastic author, this premise is not the usual new adult read for me and I loved it and need more. The characters strength and the growth that Kitten shows adds to the lovableness of both the main characters. I certainly cannot wait for book two, Bound by Fear.

Kitten (Caden’s nickname for her) is on the run and her only distraction from her past is hooking up with strangers, even though it will only allow her to feel numb for a short while. Revisiting this particular club and sitting next to a douche waiting to see if he is worth her effort, she spots a bear of a man across the club. She had noticed him last week as well, watching him watch her, but when she turns back around he’s gone.

Douche doesn’t get the hint that she doesn’t want him anymore and gets physical, the bear interrupts, coming to her rescue. He tries to warn her away from him, but she feels safe for the first time in three years and wants that feeling back.

Caden (Cade) Thaine is a mysterious man that knows Kitten is keeping a troubled past hidden. He is also keeping secrets and together Kitten hopes they will be whole. Cade has rules; no touching him, no looking at him naked and must have patience. The only way Kitten and Cade get together is through notes from Cade. When he is able to see her again, he will send her notes with a time, date and place.

Kitten is blindfolded, restrained and after their intimacy and she is asleep, Cade disappears. The more time she spends with Cade the more she falls for him, even though they don’t divulge their secrets, she knows he wouldn’t hurt her. Kitten wants more now though, wants to touch and look and know why he won’t allow those things, but he won’t share secrets that are not only his to tell.

Always looking over her shoulder, Kitten has a horrible feeling that Cade is somehow connected to her past. Determined to find out, she follows him, but it was the worst mistake of her life.

Who is Caden Thaine? Why is he hiding so many secrets? Who is Kitten and what’s her real name? Can Kitten escape her past for good?

Definitely a favourite with so much intrigue, love and action. Ms Peach’s writing style was easy flowing and fast. I will definitely be checking out the other books by Ms Peach and highly anticipating Bound by Fear. I highly recommend this book to all adult readers, it’s fabulous.

About the Author

HannaHanna began to write at the tender age of seven, starting with a daring and questionable autobiography entitled Go Suck a Lemon. Perhaps it was a little before its time.

After leaving school she agreed with everyone who said she needed to get a degree and a real job to become a proper adult. She kept writing as a hobby. After starting (and never finishing) several degrees and switching from multiple careers, she finally decided that being a real adult was overrated. In 2012, she sold everything, moved to Europe and began to write full-time.

Eternally restless, Hanna has lived in Indonesia, Australia, Germany and Scotland. She is currently residing in England.

She is addicted to coffee and chocolate and would one day like to own a dragon.

Hanna Peach is the author of the Dark Angel urban fantasy series and Bound romantic suspense series. Angelblood (Dark Angel #4) and Bound by Fear (Bound #2) are due for publication in 2014.
