5* Book Review of Lick by Kylie Scott

Summary: Waking up in Vegas was never meant to be like this.

Evelyn Thomas's plans for celebrating her twenty-first birthday in Las Vegas were big. Huge. But she sure as hell never meant to wake up on the bathroom floor with a hangover to rival the black plague, a very attractive half-naked tattooed man, and a diamond on her finger large enough to scare King Kong. Now if she could just remember how it all happened.

One thing is for certain, being married to rock and roll's favourite son is sure to be a wild ride.

There has been a lot of hype surrounding this book when it was released. I had it on my TBR for quite some time and then Play was released. I figured I should start at the beginning. Lick was absolutely fantastic, it’s not just some romance where they get married in Vegas, blah blah blah. Lick has such emotion, turmoil and hot rockers. Watching as Evelyn grows and decides to live her life for herself was tremendous.

Evelyn (Ev) Thomas went to Vegas to celebrate her 21st in style. With her bestie by her side, Ev was in for one amazing New Years. The only problem is she doesn’t remember a single thing and to make matters worse, there is a gorgeous man in her room frustrated that she doesn’t remember agreeing to marry him.

David Ferris is the guitarist and one of the most sought after rocking bachelors around. After realising Ev doesn’t remember a single thing, he storms out on her to find his lawyers. Ev didn’t even catch his name…..

Heading home to sanctuary was the wrong idea, it seems everybody knows about the marriage and Ev is hot news. She’s being followed by furious female fans and they have even camped out at her family home. David has sent his most trusted bodyguard to convince her to head to his place until it all blows over. It will save any further embarrassment to her family as well as keeping her out of the spotlight.

When Ev arrives at the house, there was a huge party in action and Ev was a little intimidated by all the bodies. Women were walking around half naked, couples were making out left and right and then David’s brother, Jimmy was an experience she doesn’t really want to have again. What has she walked into?

Meeting with the lawyers wasn’t a fun experience either, they all tried to railroad her. They think she is only after David’s money. Escaping their clutches, Ev hides out and chats with Mal, the drummer and one of David’s oldest friends. Ev is feeling very alone and vulnerable. She doesn’t even remember what went on, how is she supposed to deal with this rock star life?

David and Ev spend some time getting to know each other and try to piece together that night so Ev can remember. They try re-enacting some of the things they’d done, starting with a kiss and another and another.

Will they get the marriage annulled? Can Ev remember anything about that night in Vegas? Will she fall head over heels in love with David for real? Will David find his trust in Ev and let her into his heart?

Watch the see-saw of their relationship, on again off again and the hot steamy scenes. Mal is definitely my favourite of the band though, he breaks up the seriousness with fun, laughter and no BS. I can’t wait to read the next one, this series is a must read.
