My Review

This isn’t my usual genre, but it sounded so intriguing when the opportunity became available to review it. I am certainly not disappointed and couldn’t wait to see what would happen in the end. It is undoubtedly everything they publicised it to be and the idea of living in a secluded cabin all alone is quite terrifying.

Katherine (Kate) Reid is a thirty-eight year old successful advertising executive and own majority shares in the agency. She went to three different doctors hoping for a different outcome, but Kate is now resigned to the fact she’s dying. The third doctor tells her they used to tell patients a hundred or so years ago, to go west, move to the country, and take the grand tour of Europe; anything to change the scenery in the time she has left.

Is it fate that an advertisement for a rustic mountain cabin adjacent to a national forest with a sizable private wilderness at the doorstep is for sale?

Kate doesn’t tell anybody her prognosis at work and continues working for as long as she can. But when she uses that same newspaper to light a fire in her den, Kate sees the ad again and an idea forms.

January arrives and her illness has finally shown at work. Kate sells her controlling share and over the next few weeks, she organises things, sells her house and gathers supplies to live out her remaining months in the isolated cabin. She tries to pack light knowing there’s a hike into her cabin and she’ll have to carry everything in.

It’s now February and Kate loads everything into her mustang, with a final teary look at the house that held so many unfulfilled dreams, she drives down the street and onto her next adventure. When she arrives at the marker the surveyor left for her, Kate sorts everything and begins her hike. Will she make it before nightfall?

The hike is long and hard in her weakened state. She thinks something is following her, like a bear or a deer. She sees shadows hiding between trees and stops often to check over her shoulder. It’s almost twilight when Kate stops and sees her cabin at the bottom of a hill.  She falls into her cabin, sets up her sleeping bag and is ready to sleep. But the night sounds in the unknown wilderness is all around her. A small wind whirls dry leaves; an owl hoots and something steps lightly on the ground.

Kate is not alone in the forest. She hears something breathing next to the corner where she’s sleeping. It is a calming sound, but terrifying at the same time. A deer?

He’s up on the mountain, high as a kite and sees some stupid city chick walking in the forest in a bright red coat. He watches and seems intrigued by this woman, but he has vowed to never touch another woman ever again. What did he do? He can smell the sickness on the woman, he can smell her dying. He doesn’t want to feel for her, he only wants to watch, but finds himself watching more and more.

What is so compelling about this woman that he can’t stay away? Will he make contact with her? Will he watch her die? How long will it be until Kate’s body breaks down? Does she really believe she’s alone in the majestic forest with flora and fauna for company?

This is a story showing how badly people want to live. Whether it’s in isolation or in a big city surrounded by people, we all want to live a full life. The horrific events that take place throughout were haunting and sad. This is a dual point of view from both Kate and the Watcher and I have to say, the Watcher is a psychotic sociopath. In Wilderness is definitely horrifying, thrilling, intense, and steamy and is such an emotional and heart aching story. It was a little long for my liking, but it is positively addictive in places.

My Review

I am a huge fan of C.J. Duggan’s Summer series and was super excited to read this new one, Paradise. It was certainly another fabulous read by Ms Duggan and the characters fun, addictive and intriguing. Lexie is one cool character that has everyone underestimating her ability to get into trouble. I loved the realistic high school antics and it certainly brought back a lot of my own high school experiences.

Seventeen year old Lexie Atkinson is tired of living in her one horse town with no social life, no excitement and no school. Lexie has been getting her education via satellite and her dream is to move to Paradise City. For the past year, Lexie set herself a challenge to maintain top grades so her parents would allow her to complete school in Paradise City. Her cousin, Amanda moved there four years ago and ever since Lexie wanted to experience the sun, surf, sand and of course the BOYS.

Lexie was excited to see her cousin, they’re only a few months apart and were close before Amanda moved. Amanda was like the sister Lexie never had and it was like a piece of her left when Amanda did. Arriving at Aunty Karen’s place, Amanda appears to be avoiding her. When she goes in search of Amanda though, she finds a body snatcher in her place. The only thing Lexie recognises was her big blue eyes. Lexie’s plan just went out the window and paradise now seems to be a lie.

The first time Lexie heard the name Ballantine, she was waiting to see the principal of her new school. Even his name intrigued Lexie, she wanted to know more.

Sharing a room with Amanda was not ideal and it becomes even worse when Lexie is woken by her hair being pulled and kicked in the head. Lexie found Amanda climbing out her bedroom window. Out the window Lexie could hear voices and then that name, Ballantine. Now she could put a face to the name and boy what a looker; his dimple is unforgettable. Amanda swears her to secrecy and off she goes.

Lexie is looking forward to a new start, new friends and a new Lexie, but her first day doesn’t go to plan either. Amanda abandons her and Lexie loses her way. Though every time she spots Luke Ballantine, he seems to be just as intrigued with Lexie as she is with him.

Lexie makes a friend in Laura Boon and quickly gets her up to speed on school politics. Lexie is causing all sorts of trouble and land herself in detention. It’s a blessing though when she gets to spend time with the elusive Ballantine.

Will Lexie and Ballantine get together? With him being the “popular” surfie boy at school, will Lexie believe if he’s interested? Will Lexie really fit in at Paradise City? What is Amanda’s problem with Lexie? What is Ballantine’s history with Dean? Will Lexie stay in Paradise City?

Again Ms Duggan had created a winner. Paradise City was a perfect introduction to the series and characters. I was left needing more and it had so much laugh-out-loud fun. This really did have everything from intrigue to addiction, realism of high school antics, steamy sizzles and fast paced readability. I am certainly hooked and desperately want more of all these characters. I highly recommend this to all new adult readers, fan-bloody-tastic!

My Review

**Please note there may be spoilers for book 1 and book 2, Locked & Loaded and Friendly Fire**

Extraction Point is the final in the Ricochet series and such a fantastic instalment. Heather C. Leigh is just amazing, drawing me into the fray with intrigue and mystery and of course the sizzling steamy scenes. This is certainly a fantastic series full of hot MMA fighter/mercenaries and I would really love to hear more from the supporting characters.

Rick “Ricochet” Brennan is furious, Quinn’s past has finally caught up with her and Rick is desperate to find her. Every available operative is waiting for Ricochet to tell them the deal with Quinn. They are doing everything to try to find Quinn, every method possible. Quinn is like family with Sanctum MMA and they all want to find her and seek revenge.

Quinn is disorientated, she wakes and thinks she is a small child once again, but that is so far from the truth.

“I am already dead, Quinn thought as her vision wavered, his disfigured face was the last thing she saw before everything went black.”

Her body is beaten and broken, but she is determined not to show him any weakness and ends up blacking out again from his hands. When she wakes again, time is at a stand-still, she has no idea how long she was out. It’s the first time Quinn regrets not telling Rick about her past and takes inventory of her body and her injuries. It seems she’s alone in the house now, but can she escape?

It’s now sixteen hours since Quinn went missing and Rick still hasn’t gotten a location. He is beside himself and tries to pick a fight with someone just so he can beat the crap out of them.  Will he find her in time? What will he find? Can Quinn and Rick ever be happy together? Will the kidnapper be brought to justice?

This review is a little shorter than the others, I don’t want to give anything away, so you must pick up the series while they’re only $0.99 and find out for yourself. All I know is that I want more of these hot MMA fighters, will Dane, Ben, Tucker or Xander find their happily ever after? This whole series was fabulously written, fast paced, action packed, with alpha male protectors, intense passion and drama. The characters are fantastic, Quinn showing strength but vulnerability and Rick the strong protector that falls apart when Quinn disappears. This series is a must read for all romance readers.

My Review

**Please note there may be spoilers for book 1, Locked & Loaded**

As you know this is my first series by Heather C. Leigh and I am totally addicted to Rick “Ricochet” Brennan and his team of MMA mates. I couldn’t wait to read Friendly Fire to see what was going on with Quinn and what Rick was going to do to get her back. Another fabulous instalment in the Ricochet series and hot sizzling characters, secrets galore and intrigue.

Rick “Ricochet” Brennan is beside himself with worry, he has completely lost the plot and is taking his anger out on anyone that comes near him. It’s been six weeks and he’s been unproductive and unfocussed. Mack knew he shouldn’t send him on assignments, but he passed the psych evaluation, in the end though he almost got killed.

Quinn is on the run from her past and after being with Ricochet, she freaked out and ran again. Finally claiming her inheritance, Quinn wanted to quickly organise everything and have it finalised before Travis can find her. Quinn knows she shouldn’t have run off on Rick without a word and is anxious about her return; thankfully Mack held her job and apartment for as long as she needed.

Seeing Rick for the first time, Quinn is horrified by his appearance and when she apologises, he was sarcastic and angry, pushing her away. Now what was she going to do? She could see how hurt he was by what she’d done.

Rick tried as hard as he could to get Quinn out of his mind, going to all his usual pick-up haunts. All his memories of his childhood hit him full force, his dad tainting his view of women. The problem is when he talks to his brother, everything just becomes even more confusing where it comes to Quinn.

Quinn has befriended Mara Paxton, the wife of another fighter, Clint. Mara is so angry with her as well and demands answers. For the first time in Quinn’s life, she feels she can trust Mara with her past and reveals all.

Rick seems to have disappeared now and Quinn is beside herself with worry. Nobody will talk to her about where he is or if he’s ok. More secrets, but how can Quinn demand answers when she has secrets of her own?

Will she find Rick? Can they become friends again? Will Rick and/or Quinn divulge their mysteries?

Friendly Fire was perfectly intense, with action, intrigue, mystery and fun. I absolutely love Mara, she is such a great addition and keeps some fun in this otherwise passionate romance. Another cliff-hanger and another need for more, I cannot recommend this author enough, Ms Leigh is just fabulous, easy reading with intense, hot/steamy/sizzling, mercenaries, MMA fighters, love and major drama. All romance readers should pick this series up.

My Review

Ricochet was my first experience reading Heather C. Leigh and I am totally addicted to this fabulous author. Locked and Loaded had me hooked from the first page, I just had to see where it was going and luckily had all three to read because after each instalment, phew **fans face** I just had to read the next for more. The characters are awesome showing growth, strength and angst. I would certainly love to read more on the supporting characters, who wouldn’t want to read more about hot MMA fighters. Especially Dane Nolan, he is VERY intriguing.

Rick “Ricochet” Brennan is a twenty-eight year old ex-Marine that has turned to MMA training in Muay Thai. Ricochet’s definition is the motion of an object rebounding or deflecting one or more times from surface to surface. This describes Rick perfectly when it comes to women. The only problem Rick didn’t count on was meeting a woman that took his breath away and having his protective instincts kick into overdrive.

Annette “Quinn” Hardy/Wallace is twenty-three and hiding from a terrible past. She made contact with her dad’s best mate and was given a job as a receptionist and an apartment above Sanctum MMA. Her first impression of Rick, he was model-like with the bluest eyes she’d ever seen, but he seemed cocky and self-assured. She isn’t interested in a relationship and wanted to squash any interest he may have in her.

But Rick isn’t easily dissuaded. Quinn wasn’t falling for his usual charms and turned the feisty switch on when needed. Will Quinn give Rick a chance to befriend her? Will she let down her guard, knowing that Rick won’t harm her? Has Ricochet finally hit his target with Quinn? What is Quinn running from?

Locked and Loaded certainly set up the trilogy perfectly. I was hanging on throughout wondering if they would get together and the ending, what a cliff-hanger. Intense, hot/steamy/sizzling, mercenaries, MMA fighters, love and major drama is all included in this whole series. All romance readers should pick this one up.

this heart of mineTitle: This Heart of Mine
Series: Whiskey Creek #8
Author: Brenda Novak
Publisher: Harlequin MIRA
Released: 31st March 2015
Genre: Adult Contemporary Romance
Format: eGalley
Source: invitation for an honest review from Author - Thank you :) and via Publisher on NetGalley

I am a big fan of Brenda Novak’s Whiskey Creek series, it is such fun and the characters so varied and lovable. I was excited to read Phoenix and Riley’s story, hearing so much about this woman who went to prison for taking the life of a local girl, I just had to know what was going through her mind. Riley is such a sweetheart, but needs to stand up for himself and his son. Would definitely love to hear more from the Amos brother’s too…. J

Phoenix Fuller has been ridiculed her whole life. Having a mother that’s a recluse, lives in a trailer and a hoarder was hard on everyone. Her father left shortly after Phoenix was born and when her brothers were old enough, they left too. Now back from serving seventeen years in prison for a crime Phoenix is adamant she didn’t commit, life in Whiskey Creek for her is anything but easy.

Phoenix met Riley when he tutored her in high school. They quickly discovered a connection and started dating. Riley Stinson is from a well-respected family in Whiskey Creek and he had everybody in his ear saying she wasn’t worthy. When he broke it off with Phoenix, she had discovered she was pregnant, emotional and distraught with a broken heart and so Phoenix went a little obsessive wanting to win Riley back.

Phoenix is seeing her son for the very first time in person. Jacob and Riley meet Phoenix for breakfast, she’s only been released for three days but is desperate to see Jacob. The only reason she came back to Whiskey Creek was for her mother and Jacob. Now here though, the whole town seems to be against her.

Kyle Houseman is Riley’s best mate and believes Phoenix has served her time and should be free to do as she wishes. He decides to help her out and Riley becomes protective of Phoenix, saying she is the mother of HIS child and warns Kyle away. The more Riley sees Phoenix his feelings come to the forefront from high school and now he is having doubts about the last seventeen years. Should he have listened to his parents about Jacobs’s relationship with his mother? Is Phoenix really innocent? What happened to Phoenix that left her scarred?

Spending time with Riley, Phoenix tries to convince him she won’t ever become a nuisance again like her crush from high school that got out of hand. She doesn’t want to cause any problems that would jeopardise her son. So, did Phoenix really run Lori Mansfield over? Will Jacob want to spend time with her?

Another fabulous Whiskey Creek instalment and the next being, Kyle’s story. So excited for that, poor Kyle hasn’t had an easy love life. Ms Novak is a master of surprises and this intense “love can endure over a decade” story was a heart pumping, drama filled, small town gossip, fantastically written novel. This series is a must read and again, it doesn’t need to be read in order, each book is a standalone with connecting characters. Pick one up now!

About the Author

bio brenda novak hqnIt was a shocking experience that jump-started Brenda Novak’s bestselling author career.

“I caught my day-care provider drugging my children with cough syrup and Tylenol to get them to sleep while I was away,” Brenda says. “It was then that I decided that I needed to do something from home.”

However, writing was the last profession she expected to undertake. In fact, Brenda swears she didn’t have a creative bone in her body. In school, math and science were her best subjects, and when it came time to pick a major in college, she chose business.

Abandoning her academic scholarship to Brigham Young University at the age of 20 in order to get married and start a family, Brenda dabbled in commercial real estate, then became a loan officer.

“When I first got the idea to become a novelist, it took me five years to teach myself the craft and finish my first book,” Brenda admits. “I learned how to write by reading what others have written. The best advice for any would-be author: read, read, read….”

Brenda sold her first book, and the rest is history. Many of her novels have won or placed in contests such as the National Reader's Choice, the Bookseller's Best, the Write Touch, the Award of Excellence and the Beacon Award for Published Authors.

Brenda and her husband, Ted, live in Sacramento and are the proud parents of five children—three girls and two boys. She juggles her writing career with her children’s softball and soccer games, field trips, carpool runs and homework sessions.

When she’s not spending time with her family or writing, Brenda is usually working on her annual fundraiser for diabetes research—an on-line auction held at her website May 1st – May 31st. Her youngest son, Thad, has diabetes, and Brenda is determined to help him and others like him. She also enjoys traveling, watching sporting events and biking--she rides an amazing 20 miles every day!

My Review

I am a huge fan of Chelsea Camaron and Maverick certainly didn’t disappoint. I was excited to hear of a novella type series with fun and steamy episodes about some roughnecks working on an oil rig. Well, **phew** what a quick intense read with full on lust, full on drama and where loyalty and monogamy is tested to the hilt.

MaKenzy Davis is a nurse that has spent the last five years with a man she thought she loved. When in fact she now knows that wasn’t the case, not really. Going back home and starting over, Kenzy is concentrating on her job, a job she loves working in the hospital ICU. Even though it is hard to witness the horrible events that happen within those walls, it is also the place where Kenzy began to build a bond with Richard Collins and his son Maverick.

Maverick Collins is known as Tapper, his reputation is to “tap” women, not that they complain. The only problem he didn’t bank on was getting knocked on his butt by a caring, nurturing and beautiful dark haired beauty that he knows from High School.

Kenzy had a high school crush on Maverick for years and believes he never even knew she existed. There’s another thing she got wrong, he did. Now a single woman, Kenzy heads out for a night on the town with her bestie, Jessika. They knew they were being watched by some guys and were working their bodies like nobody was watching. Maverick walks up behind Kenzy and starts dancing with her, the feel of having each other in their arms couldn’t be compared. But the spell gets broken and Kenzy tells Tapper, he ain’t tappin’ her.

As time goes on and they carry on their separate lives, Kenzy looks after a patient that has an invisible illness and because he neglected the signs, had emergency surgery. Maverick didn’t realise that Kenzy worked in ICU, so when he was there watching over his Dad, he felt relieved to know his father was in good hands.

Now they’re spending so much time together, will Kenzy give in to the obvious attraction between her and Maverick? Can Kenzy move past Maverick’s player lifestyle and trust he can be a one-woman-man? Will Maverick’s Dad recover?

Having Type 2 Diabetes myself, this quick fabulous read really hit home with me. I am lucky enough to have my illness under control through diet, but have witnessed the ill-effects this silent illness can cause. Kenzy and Maverick are certainly fabulous characters, but I am super excited to read more about the other two roughnecks, Heath “Hitman” Thomas and Lance “Rush” Miller. PLUS, Jessika was such a fun character too, will she find her true love? This is another winner from Ms Camaron that everyone needs to read.

Chelsea Camaron - authorChelsea Camaron was born and raised in Coastal North Carolina. She currently resides in Southern Louisiana with her husband and two children but her heart is always Carolina day dreaming.

Chelsea always wanted to be a writer, but like most of us, let fear of the unknown grab a hold of her dream; she realized that if she was going to tell her daughter to go for her dreams, that it was time to follow her own advice.

Chelsea grew up turning wrenches alongside her father, and from that grew her love for old muscle cars and Harley Davidson motorcycles, which just so happened to inspired her ‘Daddy’s Girls’ series. Her love for reading has sparked a new love for writing and she currently has a few more projects in the works.

When she is not spending her days writing you can find her playing with her kids, attending car shows, going on motorcycle rides on the back of her husband’s Harley, snuggling down with her new favorite book or watching any movie that Vin Diesel might happen to be in.

She hates being serious and is still a big kid at heart. She is a small town country girl enjoying life and, Chelsea hopes that her readers remember not to take life too seriously and to embrace your inner five year old, because five year olds know how to enjoy the simple things in life and how to always have fun.

Rapture, well I was certainly raptured with this one. Getting closer to the end of the series and still so much is happening. It seems Cody is determined to save Alex, they have developed some feelings after their encounter. So another fabulously action packed episode and the heat increases and the intrigue builds. I’ve certainly added J.S. Hope to my favourites list and look forward to the finale of Lord of Misrule and what comes next.

The Goodfellow brothers are on the hunt, chasing down leads and clues to find the location of this year’s Festival. Knowing their time is running out, they turn up the heat and their actions become more physical.

Alex seems to be making a deal with the devil himself. She may finally get the answers about the Festival up close and personal, but at what cost? Her first encounter with Sebastian Assante and she’s having difficulty looking for clues or proof for her innocence and her story. The scene around her has Alex captivated, everything forgotten but the feeling inside her body.

The Goodfellow twins discover there are supernaturals around every corner, but will they make it to Alex before it’s too late? Where is the Festival being held this year? Has Cody fallen for Alex? Will Alex fall under Sebastian’s spell and forget why she’s really there?

What an ending! This is a fascinating series and I would love them to be a little longer. Only because I want more of these fantastic characters and more sizzling scenes between them. I NEED Reckoning now, have to find out what happens. Relentless continues directly after Revelation and is another fantastic instalment. Again addictive and intriguing with action and that ever present hot sizzling scene. Will Alex get her man?

Alexandra Donati (Alex) is still searching for her story, but is now a wanted woman. She is wanted for the murder of Paolo Galvan and Alex is determined to prove her innocence. Knowing she will need assistance, Alex tells the Goodfellow twins everything. They in return share what they’ve been working on and together they have a lot of information.

The Goodfellow twins are certainly behaving like brothers, squabbling and teasing each other. Alex has to physically sit between the brothers in order to get anywhere. Their main suspects are Sebastian Assante, lean, long hair, late 40s to early 50s and Gyre, distinguished, mid 60s, silver hair, cane with silver eagle’s head. They are only a couple amongst a lot of other suspects, all major figures in banking, politics, and you name it they’re a supernatural.

Alex wants to compare her reports with theirs. They create a plan to get her things back and to also check Gianni’s apartment. These twins are certainly handy to have around. Will Alex find anything at Gianni’s apartment? Can Robin get inside her hotel room and retrieve that report? Who really killed Paolo Galvan? Will Alex get her story in the end?

What an action packed episode and full on fun. Another addictive and fabulously written instalment with mystery, a lot of different point of views and it left me wanting the next. This series is a must read for a quick, hot and mysterious fantasy that has it all.

My Review

Just a warning now, my review may be a little vague, but I don’t want to give away too much of the surprises along the way.

I haven’t read a Corinne Michaels novel previously and I have to say, Consolation is one amazingly emotional read that I couldn’t put down. Ms Michaels style is extraordinary, the characters intense and complex and detailed minutely to give the reader such an inside perspective of their lives. This is the first in the Consolation duet, but it’s also included in the Salvation series and if you haven’t read the first two, it doesn’t take anything away from Consolation.

Natalie Gilcher (LEE) has everything in life that a woman desires. A husband, a house and pregnant with their first child. She was getting the nursery ready when a friend, Mark arrives and Lee could tell immediately that something was wrong, but she didn’t want to believe it!

Three months later and Lee still cannot comprehend how her life changed so drastically. Seeing Liam though makes it more real. Liam and Aaron had graduated SEAL training together eight years ago and became the closest of friends. Liam has been part of their lives ever since.

Time goes by and Lee has a routine until Liam arrives to say he’s staying. Wants to help Lee with everything and that’s when she realises he is different somehow. It’s the first time she has ever noticed just how handsome Liam is, it’s like she’s seeing him in a different light.

The more time Lee and Liam spend together, the more their feelings increase. Both are wracked with guilt because of their feelings knowing it’s essentially forbidden. Can they overcome the guilt? What really happened to Aaron? What was in Aaron’s letter to Liam? Can Lee move on and be happy in herself?

Emotional turmoil, unpredictable twists throughout, intense love, heartache and such a rollercoaster of passion. At the end I was shocked and speechless, couldn’t believe what I had read. I absolutely loved the playfulness of Liam and Lee together. The fun banter and humour really added to the entertainment factor through the sorrow. I was laughing out loud and crying along with Lee and this is a true show of the talent Ms Michaels has. I have already recommended this whole series to everyone at home and they too have loved every word. So I will also recommend this to all of you out there that want a romance with something different, this is a must read.

I am a huge fan of Katy Evans and this new series was highly anticipated for me. The Real series was extraordinary and the steam factor off the charts - hot damn **fans face**. I seriously love Ms Evans, her style is like a breath of fresh air, easy flow, fabulous characters and unpredictability. This has everything a book needs to keep me hooked from the first page.

Rachel Livingston is a reporter looking for her big story, something to shift her into the limelight, boost her career and help set her mother up in a stable life. The infamous bachelor, Malcolm Kyle Preston Logan Saint is no saint, but everything she thought she knew was wrong. Known for his parties, women and wealth Saint is really an enigma.

Rachel has her big story – Malcolm Saint. It’s her job to get inside his mind and find out:

How he stays so calm and in control?
What’s the deal with his father?
What role do all the women play in his life?
Why does he have a fascination for 4s? Everything is done in 4s.

Her first step is to actually get to see him, since Malcolm doesn’t like the press and it’s near impossible to get an interview.

Her first encounter and she’s covered in paint. No time to make a professional impression, but Saint doesn’t seem upset, he seems amused. She was only allotted ten minutes and they didn’t actually get to talk about anything important before he had to leave for another meeting. Rachel asks for another interview, but no matter what happens, her interviews never go to plan and her story gets pushed back and back.

Wow. Wow on every part of him. His face, his presence, his shoulders, his eyes.
He screams class, money, sophistication and purely powerful things.
He’s been called bold and daring both in business and out of it.

Rachel takes matters into her own hands and crashes one of his parties. Saint is shocked to see her, but takes possession and calls “dibs”. Rachel’s shocked by his word, but he believes her to be an innocent and she couldn’t possibly handle his parties, so tells her to run along home.

Rachel and Saint seem to be making headlines with speculation of his new young lady.

I can give you a thousand badges, Miss Livingston, but if he wants you, he’s going to come after you. He does have the patience of a saint when it comes to getting what he wants.

Saint seems determined now, but will he win? Will he get what he wants? Will Rachel get the story she’s really after? Will Saint find out the truth? How long will it take for Rachel to lose her heart?

You would think this is a typical romance, man meets woman, they get together and they fight, but then there’s the happily ever after. Well, let me tell you, Manwhore is not your typical romance. There will be intrigue, there will be unpredictable twists and there is a sequel. The supporting characters were also fun, but Gina, oh man, she was annoying me with her bitterness and broken heart. Anyway, I definitely recommend this to ALL romance readers, it is a MUST!

My Review

This series is just fantastic. I am hooked, Ties of Steel is quite different from the Men of Steel series containing the Steel brothers, but still in the same world. I enjoyed Dominic a little more than Abe, nevertheless MJ Fields style is wonderful and I was drawn into their domain.  I was egging Laney and Dominic to get their act together and am excited to read Sabato’s mysterious story, he’s so intense.

Delaney Johnson (Laney) is battling grief, guilt and troubled parents. She has many secrets that even her best friends don’t know about because she believes it would burden them. Her boyfriend of two years is a player and even though she never denied him in the bedroom, he was still unfaithful. Her motto has always been if it isn’t fun anymore, then it’s time to move on. She should have left James months ago, but now she’s had enough.

Dominic Segretti hasn’t had an easy emotional life either, being responsible for his little sister, Valentina. Dominic goes into the family business and makes a deal with Jules DeLuca to help her get rid of her husband Benito. Jules has a way of persuading Dominic to do her bidding, but Dominic knows there is no future for them together. Now he’s heading to New Jersey for family business, being the cousin of the Steel brothers.

“To the outside world, our family life seemed something worthy of envy. Nobody had a clue that they very foundation of our family’s business was on the verge of crumbling.”

Dominic and Valentina had massive trust funds and never had to work a day in their lives. But Dominic is a family man and seeing the family business being destroyed is heartbreaking.

Getting a job in Manhattan, Laney was heading to Nikki, one of her best friends. Together the girls are going to find Laney an apartment and get her set up.

Laney stops in at a Casino and wins quite big on the slot machines. Dominic is also at the same Casino and notices a bunch of guys surround this young woman who’s struck it lucky.

They’re both visiting friends and arrived a day early. They can feel the intense connection between them and Laney can’t deny the desire in his eyes any more. With her luck changed, she needs to feel something real and agrees to the proposition Dominic gave her.

When Laney finds out who Dominic really is though, she feels foolish again and goes berserk.

“Jesus Christ, I left an angel this morning, and now I have a she-devil.”

Dominic is addicted to Laney, he knows if he lets her leave, he would never see her again. That’s when they realise they have friends in common. Nikki and Dominic get possessive over Laney and neither wants to share. What is Laney going to do with Dominic now?

Will Laney finally share her secrets with her best friends? Will she realise life is short and to do what makes HER happy? Will Dominic get what he deserves for the family business? Who is Jules DeLuca and what are her motives?

Follow the story of Dominic and Laney, how their friends are tied together, where the Steel brothers come in and what decisions they make for the future. The intensity of their feelings, the steamy sizzling scenes and discovering trust, accepting loyalty and the beautiful relationships of the other characters were amazing. I NEED to know more from them all, what happens after and with Sabato? How Sabato ties in with the Steel brothers? This series is a must read for all erotic romance readers.

My Review

I’m a big fan of MJ Fields and was excited to read this spin off series from Men of Steel. The Steel brothers are just fantastic and reading about these other characters is a lot of fun. Abe was a big part of the other series and I enjoyed reading about the man behind the Steel brothers. As is the norm for Ms Fields, Abe: Four in Hand was a spectacularly written tale of discovery and determination and the alpha male show of strength and protectiveness.

Abe O’Donnell is the CFO of Steel Incorporated and he takes his job extremely seriously. At only twenty-six, Abe hasn’t taken a vacation since college and is well overdue. His plan was to visit Ford Lauderdale, relax, surf, drink and find many female beach bunnies to warm his bed. Being the CFO, sleeping with women has been a complicated process, it’s caused security issues in the past and now Abe checks for any connections beforehand.

He’s rented a house on a private beach and after surfing jumps in the pool to wash off the salt. Stripping down to his skin and swimming freely, Abe hears voices close by and discovers he isn’t along. Three girls are standing next to the pool and checking out his package. Apparently his house isn’t as private as it’s supposed to be. Turning on the infamous charm of Abe O’Donnell, he offers to cook for the girls the next night. They tell him another friend is arriving, so there will be four going to dinner.

Nikolette Bassett is twenty-two and is trying to escape the heartache and betrayal of her boyfriend, Steve. The night she arrived, her best friends tell her about the guy next door, his package and the charming dinner invitation. It’s only been five months since her break-up and her friends nudge Nikki to hook-up with Abe.

Heading down to the beach for a walk, she finds a very handsome surfer and he was heading straight for her. Abe realises she must be number four from next door and without proper introductions, he calls her Four and she calls him Neptune. All very thrilling and mysterious they flirt and a connection is undeniable.

Now home, Abe heads into the office and the Steel brothers tell him as the only eligible bachelor remaining in their group he has to take an interview with a magazine. The reporter walks in and when she sits down, Abe is shocked to find it’s Four sitting in front of him.

He’s not happy and refuses to partake in the interview, but Nikki is determined to complete her assignment and takes matters into her own hands. Will Abe give the interview? Will they get together now they know their true identities?

Nikki gets into so much trouble, Abe turns protector and Nikki has to ask herself if she can submit to Abe and his desires. Can she find the strength to open her body and soul to new possibilities with Abe or run for the hills?

Another fabulously addictive read and I cannot wait for more, especially Sabato what a mysterious man. Intrigue, family loyalty and heartache, lust, pushing limits and hot sizzling scenes are all contained within Abe: Four in Hand. All romance readers need to grab this series even if you haven’t read Men of Steel yet.

5*s for Against the Ropes (Redemption #1) by Sarah Castille

Against the Ropes - Sarah Castille

Absolutely addictive & fun.

Makayla is such a fun character with a no-bars-hold attitude, but has a secret that she can't keep hidden for long.

Torment is one amazing control freak, but his over protectiveness is endearing & his past is also a private matter that never gets spoken of.

Together these 2 create friction, electricity & passion.

Can't wait to read from more of the guys at Redemption.

I was lucky enough to have the second instalment to start straight after Ritual. Revelation continued on from the first and was equally as amazing. Again another well written addictive read that followed the same lines as the first and left me wanting the third.

Alessandra Donati (Alex) was confused and frightened. On the run from “something” Alex stumbled upon the road and a car pulled up. Inside was Cody and he asked if IT was following them? This confused her even more.

Looking out the car window, Alex saw something big and furry running along with the car. Now it was heading straight at her door. BANG! Slamming into the side of their car, it spun out of control.

When Alex came to, her whole body hurt. The car was upside down. She had no idea what was going on or what IT was. Hurling questions at the beast, Alex was trying to get some answers while distracting it.

Cody isn’t who he appears to be, secrets and danger lurking around every corner. Alex plans her escape, but doesn’t realise Cody isn’t the most dangerous thing out there. It appears that during her scuffle with IT, Alex was marked. Does that mean the creature can track her? Sense her? Get inside her head?

All Alex knew was that she needed answers and the only person who might help her was the one she ran away from. Cody Goodfellow.

“My brother and I hunt monsters for a living. Not the human kind.”

A Venetian socialite has been found dead and their prime suspect, the last person to see him alive is Alex. So now Alex is in danger from all over the place, the police, the creature and her boss chasing his story.

Can she find any answers? Are they all related to this cult? Who is Cody Goodfellow and what does he want with Alex? Who is the killer? Where is Gianni?

Another cliffhanger and another exciting read. Ms Hope you are fabulous and I cannot wait for more. Action packed, intrigue, mystery, monsters and a hot sizzling scene all contribute to a quick, fun and electrifying instalment. Bring on number three, Relentless.

I am a big fan of Rachael Johns and was very excited to receive her latest. I hadn’t read Jilted but it didn’t cause any confusion throughout. The Road to Hope was a fabulous Australian read and I loved the fun characters and the small town know all gossip. As always, Ms Johns has a fabulous writing style, I was totally addicted and with realistic emotions I was caught up in Laurie’s drama.

Lauren Simpson (Laurie) is a nurse at the local hospital and loves her job. She doesn’t feel appreciated and the town believes she’s the “town slapper”.  Seeing the love of her life walk down the aisle with another woman, Laurie is determined to change her ways and become a good girl. She has made a plan to leave the small town of Hope Junction and move onto bigger and better things and hopefully find the love of her life in the process.

Living by herself with her parent’s overseas and her brother, Frank, in Nepal, Laurie feels all alone. Her best friend has her mind stuck on babies and doesn’t seem to realise how hurt Laurie is.

Just as the ceremony ends, the Grandmother of the groom takes a turn and Laurie goes to the rescue. Thinking it could be dehydration and heat related, she is taken to hospital to get checked out. Dr Bates is heading on holidays and the new locum, Dr Tom Lewis will be taking over. He was tall, dark, broad-shouldered and extraordinarily handsome. But Laurie is determined to be the good girl.

When she arrived home after the wedding reception, she found a strange Ute in her driveway and the lights on inside. Laurie grabbed her jack out of the car and headed inside ready to whack the intruder. When the door opened, there was a hot man standing there wearing only boardies. It took her a minute to recognise the man as Dr Lewis, the new locum.

It appears Laurie will be having a visitor for a few months and now maybe regrets the change of rules with this hot eligible doctor living in her house. But she’s still determined to stick to her guns. Trying everything she can to deter Dr Delicious from flirting, Laurie carries on with her daily routine.

The more time they spend together the stronger their feelings and attraction become. But Tom is hiding a massive secret of his own and knows he doesn’t want a long term relationship. The see-saw of feelings and actions towards each other would give anyone whiplash, but can these two overcome reputations and secrecy to be together?

What is Tom hiding? Will Lauren end up leaving Hope Junction? Can she continue to be the good girl with Dr Delicious in her house?

Watch the relationship unfold and discover the strength that people find once they’ve found love. I adored the older patients in residential care at the hospital and the antics they get up to. From painting nails to dancing to playing board games, it was inspirational and light-hearted fun. I am certainly looking forward to reading more fun romances from Ms Johns, with the next being, The Patterson Girls due out in October 2015.
